Most of us can relate to feelings of anxiety and stress in our lives. It’s part of being human and allowing ourselves to feel. However, when you notice sensations like anxiety or fear taking over, it may be time to take a look at what is underlying these dynamics.

Our initial reaction may be to try to ‘get rid of’ or ‘fix’ the pain. In my experience, these approaches are not sustainable because sensations, feelings, emotions, and even pain in our bodies is the body’s way of trying to communicate a deeper message to us. It’s when we ‘get’ the message that we can see and feel a sustainable change.

If you’re mostly focused on the external, you may not know how to communicate with your body. This is where yoga, meditation, breathing, and craniosacral therapy/energy work can help.

  • Hold your boundaries and say YES and NO according to what you actually want
  • Learn how to calm your nervous system and feel safer in your body especially if you have experienced trauma

 

If you have experienced trauma in your life, a common response may be to ‘check out’ or become numb when things become overwhelming to think about or feel. Another response may be to react more strongly to a situation than what it may warrant, which you may realize upon later reflection. Through our work together in a safely held space, you can experience staying with the uncomfortable sensations in your body and FEEL and HEAL what may be otherwise difficult to process on your own.

Stress and tension can also show up as physical pain. If your pain feels more related to stress or unexpressed emotions, craniosacral therapy/energy work can also help you to connect more deeply with the sensations and  communicate with your body through guided dialogue. It’s amazing to see how people receive messages from their own bodies once they are able to slow down and allow themselves to be guided to tune in at a deep level.

The most frequent feedback I hear after sessions is that people feel lighter. I believe that we unknowingly carry many mental and emotional burdens. When we work directly with the body, we can access the unconscious experiences that keep us stuck in old patterns and energetically release them in order to experience more freedom and clarity in our thoughts and actions.
